Dance/Light

Dance/Light is an annual dance show put on by Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama. It is a collection of nearly 20 pieces of varying styles; each song with a different student choreographer, lighting designer, costume designer, and stage manager. As one of the stage managers, I was tasked with running tech and calling cues for two back to back pieces that totalled 11 dancers.

The first piece was a cut of the song Achilles Come Down by Gang of Youths, choreographed by Alana Wu. It was contemporary movement paired with slow fading warm lights and nude-colored, torn, greek-adjacent leotards.

The second piece, which also happened to be the closing number, was a remix of Begging by Måneskin, choreographed by Michael Basil Cook. It was a modern hip hop dance that included tricking, done in baggy 2000s streetwear with specific bumped lighting cues and spinning gobos.
