SHOUT! The Mod Musical
SHOUT! The Mod Musical - directed by Jason Parrish, choreographed by Rebecca Frazier, and musical directed by Patrick Burns - is a 2 hour long musical revue of 1960s hits. With featured songs like Son Of A Preacher Man and These Boots Are Made For Walkin’, the audience is taken on a journey of 5 women named after the colors of the rainbow navigating their lives in the swinging 60’s while following the word of traditionalist advice columnist Gwendolyn Holmes.
As my first full length musical, SHOUT! allowed me to read music professionally for the first time in over a year, which I loved. I had also never worked with a live band before, so the sound check was different from other I have done before. On the scheduling side of the band, we also had a rotating set of reeds players to keep track of, and a replacement bass player due to scheduling conflicts.
It was also new in the fact that I joined an existing stage management team. Both the PSM and other ASM had worked together on a show before, so I had to find my place in their dynamic. Overall the experience, with the musical and on their team, was lovely and it flew by.
