Macbeth

Macbeth, directed by Sofia Osborne, was adapted by herself and Matthew Blankley for presentation through Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama. This 90 minute cut was set in the original 11th century period, however gender was not a construct of their society. It told the story of ambition, prophecy, and what happens when the ones we love are put to the test. I got to be the Stage Manager and Fight Captain for this show, played by a small cast of six femme or genderqueer performers where every person, except the titular character, played 2-4 roles.

As the SM of this production, we worked in an alleyway stage arrangement, with pneumatic scenery. Every death in our world was symbolized by a boulder that dropped from linesets above, that I completely controlled via a panel in the booth. 

This version also had sword fighting that, as Fight Captain, I had to make sure was safe every night under the wing of our wonderful Fight Choreographer Tonya Lynn. I learn the proper terminology, and weaponry care, for broadsword fighting. We also had different naps and foleys for attacks, strangles, slaps, and neck snaps.
